Hi, my name is Jason and I’m one of the buyers here at Braun’s. I have been working here in Braun’s Kitchener Store for about 8 months now, so I may have seen a few of you around the shop. A little about myself: I’m 34 years old and married with 2 kids. My daughter is 13 and dances 7 times a week and my son is 11 and plays hockey year round… so needless to say I have a busy life and it’s not always easy to find time to ride.
I have been involved In cycling since I was 7 when I started racing BMX. Since that time I have raced BMX, spent several years mountain bike racing, and for the last 5 years have also started doing some road riding. I’m excited to try my first road race this season.
My part of this blog will mainly focus on my training and preparations for the upcoming season. My goals for this season are still uncertain as I’m waiting on the OCA schedule to be completed, but the one event already on my calendar is June 11th + 12th, 2011 for the Ride to Conquer Cancer. I have been interested in this race for the past several years (a great ride for a great cause), but didn’t know if I could commit the time I would need to training and fundraising.
Well, this past year I lost my Grandfather to cancer, and I decided this was the year to make the commitment. I will be taking part in the M200, riding 200 miles and raising $3000 dollars (or more, I hope) for cancer research. If you are interested in donating please visit the shop and ask for me, or better yet donate online here.
So Christmas and New Years are done and it’s time to get back in shape. I started on Jan 2 with some hockey and plan to get in 4 days of cardio and 2 of core and strength training per week. Not sure how or where I’ll fit them in but I’ll keep you posted.

Still waiting to hear from Robert.
Curious how your making out with your training Jason?
Hi Mark,
Its going well I am managing several hours a week on the trainer but need to get more core work outs in. It’s turning out that the fund raising part is harder to find time for than the training.
I will have another blog post up shortly regarding my training and what I’m managing to get done.
