You’ve heard me say this a thousand times before. You will do as well next season as you work in the Winter. This usually means a lot of time spent riding an indoor bike trainer. Depending on the trainer you use that time can be more or less effective.

Make this Winter count with a Kurt Kinetic Trainer.

So we all know there are deals to be had out there on the interweb, and sometimes they are just too good to pass up… but how much are you really saving?

While initially you seem to be saving big money there are hidden costs you may not have considered: shipping may not be a completely hidden cost, but the cost of shipping a bike across the border can be quite expensive depending on the size and type of bike purchased.

There its also duty to be considered when bringing anything across the border; bikes coming in from the US for example are assessed on average 13% duty and then you will be charged the 13% HST as well.

Based on a 20″ framed 29er mountain bike priced online at $1499.98 you could be looking at $200.00 shipping plus 13% duty, add another 13% to that total for HST and your bargain bicycle is now coming in at over $2170.00!  On top of that you are still responsible for all future service and maintenance, and you may not have anywhere to turn in case of a warranty issue.  Where as if you buy a bike from us we measure you for the right size, fit it to you and give you a lifetime tune-up warranty.

So when you consider all the hidden charges, future costs, and lack of support, are you really saving anything?  Maybe you still think so, but we would like shot at keeping your business local.  Bring your online quote into any Braun’s location before you buy and give us the chance to match it – we may not be able to match every price but in most cases we are able to get close and then you have someone who will look after you.  And hey, what are you losing by giving your LBS (Local Bike Shop) a chance to make you really happy?
